From the media reflections of the premiere "Legends of Magic Prague"

"Laterna Magika fulfilled in this premiere its mission as a synthetic theatre of music and dance which is dominated by accompanying video-projections that make use of new digital technologies. The aim of those projections is above all to enhance the thetrical poetry which happens on the stage."

"This production is overwhelmed by legends related to the Jewish ghetto of Prague - a quarter having a big charm in itself. In Srnec´s elaboration, its mystery becomes even more powerful and gains new dimensions. The selection of stories is successful, as well as their stage setting."

"It might be assumed that visitors, having seen this production, will be next time strolling through rainy, mysterious Prague which is woven with hundreds of stories and legends, with a completely different perception and expectation."

(Martina Doležalová, Bavte.se)

"The production brings something really interesting, positive and unique into the theatrical creation."

"S/he who knows the programmes of Laterna Magika will also know that one of its most joyful and most positive productions is The Wonderful Circus which celebrates the highest number of performances. The Legends of Magic Prague have definitely the potential to become a successful popular production which manages its rebirth from   dreariness and strangeness to full light and beauty."

(Milan Kajínek, Velká epocha)

"There is no bigger satisfaction for a critic, at least as I hope, than to write a laudatio of a successful work. This year´s celebrant has proven on his anniversary that he does not need, even as the eighty-years-old one, to exhaust his past successes and original ideas and to steal from himself. He managed however, together with his top collaborators, to think out and set on stage a unique production which undoubtedly overruns some problematic productions on the stages of the National Theatre and the Estates Theatre. We watch a charming performance - a symbiosis of audio and visual components in a rare unity. The stories of the baroque Prague, perceived with fantasy, is accompanied by Walker (Petr Münch) and Clown (Alexandr Volný). The author has charged them not only with a role of guides through the individual episodes - they also interconnect the whole production with their excellent and demanding ballet performance."

"It is above all about stories of the old Prague, based on historical facts. Why not to remind of them not with a word of mouth but with motion, lights, music, film projections and perfect ballet performed by the dance ensemble, including guest artists. Jiří Srnec refers not only to his former creations, to his art tradition, but at the same time, he shifts it further and higher."

(Inka Ciprová, Pražský deník)

"The premiered production is a theatre in the very sense of that word. In it, the means of the artistic implementation is the power of theatrical poetry. And what could be better for that than legends related to the mysteries of the city?"

(Olga Szymanská, Pozitivní noviny)
