Dancer, choreographer, pedagogue.

Graduate of Prague Dance Conservatory and Academy of Performing Arts (choreography). He dedicated himself mostly to choreographical work: 1979–83 State theatre in Ostravě, interships abroad, among others Poland, Teatro Tanca with choreographer Conrad Drzewiecki (1980), Belgium with Maurice Béjart and Royal Ballet of Flanders in Antwerp (1982). Worked as a choreographer and chief of the ballet ensemble in Musical theatre Karlín (1983–90) and National Theatre Brno (1991–2004). In 2003–07 generall director of National Theatre Brno and since 2007 advisor of the director of the National Theatre in Prague. Since 1. 1. 2010 appointed artistic director
of Laterna Magika. Chairman of the Board of the Dance Association of CR.

In tehatres in Czech Rep. and abroad Zdeněk prokeš created
about 140 choreographies in ballets, operas, oprettas,
musicals and dramas. His ballets cover many genres -
from abstract, comic to dramatical ballets, from short
and chamber pieces to full evening titles. He often
stages works of modern, mostly Czech musicians. From
successful titles: Romeo and Juliette (ND Brno, 1996), Tale of
Tristan and Isolde (ND Brno, 1995), ballet Bull on the Roof (J. K.
 Tyl Theatre Pilsen, 1995), Trojan Women (International
Music Festival Moravian Autumn 1995 and ND Brno,
1997), ballet version of John Lanchbery´s and Lehár´s
operetta Joyfull Vidow (ND Brno, 2000), Partita (ND Brno,
2004), Pavane for a Dead Princess, Bolero (ND Brno, 2006)
and others. Tens of choreographies to operas, operettas
and musicals in Prague, Brněo, Ostrava, Pilsen, Olomouc, but
also festival Opern Air Gars in Austria (Offenbach: Hoffmann´s Tales, 1993; Verdi: Nabucco, 1995) or for Opera Monte Carlo in Monacu (Smetana: The Bartered Bride, 1999).
