Rendez-VousWhen is on programme 'Rendez-Vous'? · Photogallery · Video · Tickets  The first performance of this kind was created already in 1984 and was called Pragensia, Vox Clamantis, followed by Orbis pictus in 1986 and Hádanky (Puzzles) in 1996. In the context of non-verbal theatre forms dance disposes of a unique capacity to bring together the space and the projection, making Laterna magika an ideal place for development of this esthetic integration which, nevertheless, makes it a challenge for the dancers. As a result, a synthesis of choreographic and visual deepened into an effective, interactive and concentrated concert as it is to be seen, for example, in Graffiti (2002).The ensamble ranks amongst the best world ballet companies thanks to its specific features in the repertory and its performances are keenly received not only by the audiences but also by the critics, who commented upon the first two titles: ...Laterna magika fills in the blank spots on the map of our ballet life. Later, the company was awarded the best collective interpretive performance for Puzzles, duets and soloists for Graffiti also received various other awards on both theatre and ballet level. The opening of the new title called Rendez-vous has two scenic versions: first one opened on 2 August 2005 in Cathedrale d´Image in southern France, the second originated as a regular performance for the Prague scene. Both versions, however, were created in a co-production with French La Compagnie Commun Instant and a German agency Noa Entertainment becoming a project financed by the European Union through a grant programme for the development of European cultural co-operation Culture 2000. The whole performance was much influenced by the environment of a disused stone quarry (Cathedrale d´Image), which intrigued Josef Svoboda and Albert Plecy as an ideal place for concerts, exhibitions and performances. This time, it was Jean-Pierre Aviotte who was inspired by this magical space with unique atmosphere as if created for multimedia projects, to produce a performance based on the principles of Laterna magika, using some other unconventional scenic instruments to narrate a mysterious encounter in the bullring.
